| Testimonies -- Jim Bates | ||||||
|
Jim Bates and his
family have been part of EPC in Marshall since it was formed.“I have been a Christian since 1972, after I attended a lay revival meeting that came to Marshall. I went to a small home meeting where Christians were telling their personal testimonies, and I was convicted that I needed to accept Christ as my savior. “My wife, Nina, and I accepted Christ soon afterward. Because of the (liberal doctrines) of the Presbyterian Church that I was in, I helped form a small gathering of families in my living room, which soon became affiliated with the EPC. I have been involved in the church since its conception, have been an elder on several occasions, and considers the church to be his family through its teaching, preaching, and ministries. It’s the place that he goes to grow in his spiritual walk and fellowship with other believers. “It’s kept me strong in my disciplines as a Christian. It’s not just a place to gather, it’s a group of people that goes out and serves Jesus Christ.” |
